Erotic E-books and A Remember Me Kiss

Sorry, I couldn’t think of a more creative title for this post. I’m still reeling from the fact that I inadvertently sent my parents the link to this blog.

WARNING – Any family members including parental units who choose to read beyond this point be warned. You may not want to see this or the rest of the blog so close the window and go do something else. You can see our Olympic photos on facebook instead.

Okay, with that out of the way…

Before I get to the erotica links, I’m super happy about this Remember Me trailer where they kiss…

Okay, this week’s Fanfic Friday is a bit off because I gave you a crapload of fanfic rec’s this week already. I thought we’d stick to the non-twilight world of fiction this time.

The other day I ventured out of my twilight shell and went looking for Bel Ami by Guy de Maupassant.

As you all well know Rob is currently filming the movie adaptation with Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci, and Kristen Scott Thomas. I also heard he really liked the book and I can’t believe I’m going on an endorsement from a 23 year old guy.

He'll be the George in my head

I’m sure many of you know by now if you’ve tried googling Bel Ami that you sometimes you’ll get stuff like this.

Not the Bel Ami I was thinking of

That’s because a guy with the pseudonym Georges Duroy started an adult film company with the same name. If you click the guys you’ll get the wiki page, not the actual film.

So getting back to finding the Bel Ami book, I managed to find it on ebook in English for free here at ebookread.com and put it into stanza on my iphone. It’s not as well formatted as if it came from the fanfic downloader but it’ll do for free. There were many versions in French but they didn’t cover a lot of erotica and sex in high school French.

JJ at Twitarded put up a post a couple of days ago highlighting her favourite erotica classics. Some of these stories go back to the 1930’s. I was wondering if any of these could be found on ebook.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not looking to do anything illegal. I just figure some of these books are so old that they really are classics and like many classics may be free ebooks by now.

While doing research for this post, I also found out Playboy actually has a list of the 25 Sexiest Novels Ever Written. No joke that there are no pictures in that article, just book covers. Never thought I’d have a link on my blog to Playboy.

See, it really is just book covers

Where I have managed to find a free downloadable ebook copy I’ve put the site name underneath. Keep in mind that some of these are file download sites. I take no responsibility for their content eg. I haven’t virus scanned them all. If you are worried at all about it regarding viruses or the legality of any of them just pay the extra buck or two to download it from a regular ebook store (see next paragraph).

Seriously, it costs less than 5 dollars for most of these files and less than 10 bucks for newer books. Some of you will definitely just want to go to the store and buy the real book if it’s 10 bucks but I don’t like walking out of the bookstore with my arms full of erotica.

To buy an ebook. if you use Stanza check the “Get Books” under “Fictionwise Book Store” and you’ll find many books you can download directly into your ipodtouch/iphone Stanza app for a small fee. If you can’t find it in Fictionwise there is a Kindle for iphone app and you can get every one of these titles from Amazon.com in kindle format for sure. I haven’t reviewed it myself but some people like Stanza better.  There is also www.flipkart.com and www.ebookmall.com to buy ebooks from.

Here is the Playboy list and if you click the story name it takes you to the Playboy write up with plot and historical significance (I kid you not) and link to buy from Amazon (either book or ebook):

Phew, that is a long list. Hope this satisfies all your non-twilight smut needs for a while. Lord knows how many of us had moms or grandmas who read this stuff too. How many of you might have been conceived because of these books? Disturbing imagery but some food for thought.

  1. You. Are. Amazing. I need to think of what else I need done, because when I ask, you deliver. Thanks again!!

So are you and your gang getting excited for the Opening Ceremonies? I can’t wait to see your pictures. How close will you be to the track? Will you have a sign so we can find you? LOL!!!

  2. Lisa ask and you shall receive except I can’t deliver actual people.
I hope I’m not breaking any laws here.
The stadium is our huge football stadium. Tickets are expensive yet I still feel we’re far away. I’ll post twitpics through the day and a big post for Saturday hopefully.

  6. @Poptarrt – yes finding the time, it might take years! It’s a really long list.
@Twired Jen – some of these are just crazy so go and check them out. Like the Singular pleasures is 66 one paragraph stories about people masturbating.
    Have fun!

hehehe, funny, I was over at Indigo today looking for Bel Ami (geez, the paper version! Like so dinosaur!) but little J got fussy before I found it and I made a run for it… I guess it would have looked funny anyway: my 2 books would have been “Bel Ami” and “Potty training in a day”!!! Maybe, I’ll join the 21st century, and read it as an ebook! 😉

ps. the higher up your seats at the opening ceremony, the better.. you’ll get to see the overall patterns created – my parents had lower bowl tix for the rehearsal and we had upper bowl – ours were better because we could see the overall effect – you are going to love it (although, there are a heck of a lot of countries filing in….albania, angora …lots of “A” countries! – canada comes last, not with the C’s – so you have time to get your overpriced hotdogs)

  8. MK – I can picture you juggling the crying baby, potty book, and Rob book all at once. Funny you were thinking the same thing 🙂 You might just cave in and read the ebook. It’s free.
Very happy to hear you had a good time at the rehearsal. I’m starting to get more excited now. this is always the way – I don’t get excited until it’s almost over!

Very useful list and set of links… thank you! There is a lot of stuff on that list that I knew of, others that I’ll have to look up and give a good look-over. And I am totally jealous of your proximity to the Winter Olympics!
